Going Somewhere? Let the Library Help! – From the Director’s Desk
As we wait for spring and finally summer to arrive it’s fun to think ahead and plan exciting vacations. Whether you are travelling near or far the library can help. We have an extensive travel collection to get you started.
Start with one of our guide books. We have just about every country covered and all the states. Not going far? Then choose a title with local interest like New York City with Kids or 50 Hikes in NJ.
National Parks are where I like to vacation. Check out The 10 Best of Everything – National Parks for a multitude of ideas. Once a trip is planned use the library to find other books with information about your destination. For example, if you are visiting Yellowstone National park, check out a book on geysers and western wildlife. Watch our Yellowstone video too. This plan works especially well with children and gets them excited about what they will see and do.
Looking for a unique vacation? How about a “short-term adventure that will benefit you and others”? Check out our book Volunteer Vacations. Maybe you want a vacation with a literary theme. How about The Oxford Guide to Literary Britain & Ireland?
And don’t forget travel directions! Our upcoming program How to Navigate with Google Maps will get you anywhere in the world!
Even if you never leave your arm chair, it’s still fun to plan and dream
