                Resident Evil: Remake

For: Nintendo Gamecube
Genre: Horror Survival
Rated: Mature (Blood and violence)

Nothing is as satisfying as the zombie moans and the plot depth of Resident Evil: Remake (Biohazard: Remake). Resident Evil is a horror-survival game like no other with quite an original plot. This game has no doubt the best graphics I have ever witnessed. This game has enjoyable puzzles, surprises around every corner, and plot twists that you would never see coming. This game will bring a smile to your face all the way from the burning of the zombie’s corpse to the sound of the shell clatter to the ground.
In this well thought-out video game, you are able to play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield from the S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad) team. Many mysterious and creepy murders were found near a mansion in Raccoon City. As a result, S.T.A.R.S Alpha Team was sent in to investigate. The team wasn’t heard from for a while so S.T.A.R.S Bravo Team went in afterwards to check out the scene. The helicopter was a wreck; two team members were found dead and the rest where presumed dead. As the team investigates even farther, they found a heard of undead dogs, huddled over a corpse. The herd chased the remaining team into the mansion were they start their dreadful adventure into the mansion of the undead. They encounter such monsters as zombies, undead dogs, huge reptiles and gigantic tyrants. As you walk though this nightmare, the game unfolds a remarkable plot.
This game has a lot of features that make Resident Evil a whole lot different from everyday videogames. Resident Evil was based off an award-winning novel series written by Stephani Danelle Terry. Resident Evil: Remake is a remake of the Playstation version of Resident Evil (Hence the name Resident Evil: Remake) and as far as most players are concerned, is much of an improvement.

Compared to the original, the Resident Evil: Remake has more game play value. For instance, there are more weapons such as an assault shotgun, defense gun, and a flamethrower. More foes like tyrants, zombies, and even a new undead creature is introduced, the Crimson Head. As well as improved enemies, there are also more areas as well. Not only does this game have the original areas, but it also has almost two times as much. Not to mention the extra additions options and secrets. Unlike most video games, Resident Evil has alternate endings. If you fail to protect, save, or help one of your fellow team members, you are unable to get an item, weapon, or a certain ending. For secrets, you are able to achieve new weapons like a rocket launcher and a semi-automatic pistol. You are also able, after beating the game on a difficult setting, to acquire new costumes for your player and team.

It’s not only the game play value that will make you take pleasure in playing this game, but it is also the audio and visual. It may not seem that important, but the improved sound, music, graphics, and animation also make this game breathtaking. The very sound of the background music, the moans of zombies, and gunshots makes you stop in your tracks. The visual itself is what will really blow you away. The blood effects are amazing, the hair on the zombies’ heads are remarkable, the people, the weapons, the rooms, the fire, the whole game, it’s just incredible.

If you are looking for a good shooting, puzzle, and horror-survival game that will keep you occupied for a while, Resident Evil: Remake is simply a must.

Time Splitters 2

For: PlayStation2 | Genre: Action | Rated: Teen (Violence)

This is no doubt, on my top 10 best games list. Up there with games like Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy 10, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (my personal favorite). Timesplitters2 excel in amazing game play, graphics and gun detail, characters, and fun multiplayer with will keep you busy playing this for a while. I can and I have played this game for more than a day, and not get bored of it. This game is most excellent and it is a must buy for any action fan.

This game is a first person shooter action game were you play as a soldier in the future, who has to time travel back in time to get Time Crystals that the aliens have hidden. You play in such time periods like the cold war, 1940, the 1700’s, and even in the future. To go along with each level, there are many different enemies, weapons, objectives, and a different character as well. For example, in the first level, you will play as a mercenary. You will use such weapons as: A silenced pistol, a sniper’s rifle, a Soviet auto-rifle, and more. In this level, you will also face enemies like Soviet soldiers, a biohazard team, including, my favorite enemy, zombies, and more.
This game allows you to play through 10 different time periods that are filled with objectives and a whole lot of action.

But, if you think all the fun and excitement ends there, you are mistaken. Not only is there a story mode, but there is also an arcade mode and a challenge mode. In arcade, you can play in a league and win trophies to unlock characters and levels. You play in such games as Capture the Bag, Elimination, Virus, Death match/Team death match, and a lot more. In arcade custom you can play with a friend (if you have a multitap, you can play with a total of 4 players) in the same games in arcade league, but you can, customize the settings like the place you play, the weapons you play with, what character with, ect. And, if you have an Internet connection from your Playstation2, you can play online with other players around the US. Then, there is challenge mode. Challenge mode is where you play fun, random mini-games with funny plots to go with it.

Not only are the game play and graphics outstanding, but so is the music and sound. Every gunshot and every beat to the music you are playing to will bring warm up your heart with that feeling of content. The music played matches the era in which you play like Techno music is played in the future robot factory. To compliment the space age music, you will hear the satisfying zapping of the auto-plasma rifle. The sound truly adds to the value of the game play.
If you have been searching for a straightforward first-person action shooter, like golden eye, this game is definitely the game you have been waiting for.
