Curbside Service Coming Soon

I know you are all wondering when the Cranbury Public Library will be offering curbside service now that the Governor has stated it is allowed.  I have put together a plan to prepare for and begin this service and hope to implement it shortly.  Be assured that the library is taking every precaution to maintain the health and safety of both library staff and patrons.  All our COVID-19 protocols are available on the library’s website.

The Cranbury School Board of Education requested I print the following:
  • Curbside service will not begin on July 6th
  • Parking lot and bookdrop are currently inaccessible
  • Curbside Service start date is to be determined
I will inform you immediately when a start date is decided upon.

The library has been working around the Cranbury School’s end of year schedule.  Last week the school was collecting text books and allowing students to pick up items left at the school.  During this time no library staff were allowed in the library building.  I’m hopeful the Board of Education will allow my staff to enter the building soon so we can prepare to offer curbside service.

Once we get the go ahead from the school our first step will be to ask our users to return the materials checked out in March.  Thank you all for keeping them safe for us during this time.  At that time, materials should be returned in the bookdrop only!   Staff will remove and quarantine items for 72 hours before processing them.  After quarantine, items will be returned and removed from your account.  As stated previously, all overdue fines have been waived during this time.

If you are interest in receiving items using curbside pickup you may place a request in one of four ways:

  • Access your account online and place reserve(s).  (PREFERRED METHOD)
  • Text or leave a voice mail at 609-642-9675. (GOOD METHOD)
  • Email the library with your request(s) at (ALSO GOOD)
  • Call the library at 609-655-0555 during our hours of service to speak to a staff member. (If our phone is busy, thanks in advance for your patience.)

The staff will work to fill your requests and call you to set up an appointment for pickup.  At this time we don’t know when that will be – but hopefully in July.  We will be limiting requests to 5 items per pickup at first.

We hope this process will work smoothly, but as with any new procedure please be understanding if there are a few missteps or delays.  We miss our Library Members and are anxious to get you the books you need – because we know you NEED books!
